Promo Motive is a Disruptor in The Promo Business!
What does it mean to be a disruptor in the Promotional Products Supplier business?
The supply-side of the promotional products industry has gotten into a collosal rut over the last decade. The product selection has gotten decidedly boring with all the big suppliers carrying the same items and ideas.
Suppliers have invested in huge stateside inventories which on the surface may seem like a good idea but let me explain why it is not!
Big inventory means big bloat!
I have seen all sides of supply in the promo business and I can tell you that when you have a big inventory that the overhead goes up, costs to service the goods go up and in turn the selling price for the goods must go up.
When you carry lots of inventory, many skus (stock keeping units aka products) are poor sellers. They sit on shelves FOREVER. These poor sellers COST money to sit on the shelf. The cost to carry the poor sellers is added to the selling price of the best sellers.
In short, the winners cost more as they carry an extra profit to pay for the losers that are sitting on the shelf.
Promo Motive carries no domestic inventory instead we deliver exactly what you want and what you need at the lowest possible price in as little as 7 days direct from the factory to you!
Today, the speed of offshore to your door delivery is almost at the speed of light. We routinely deliver orders of completely logo’d promotional products in 7 to 9 days from date of order to in-hands.
Long-gone are the days of 90-120 day deliveries and huge minimum orders. The Asian factories we deal with are super responsive and much more efficient in their costs.
Our Prices Rock!
Because we don’t carry inventory, don’t have warehouse staff, heat, light and overhead and don’t handle the product 8 times (Factory, boat, dock, truck, offload, pick, decorate then ship!) our costs are lower. No doubt airfreight is slightly more expensive than ocean freight but not much and not at all of the time.
“Think about this, a domestic supplier handles the product 8 times before it gets to you. How much does THAT COST!”
We ONLY sell the BEST SELLERS!
I know everyone says that but they are lying. Think about it. A supplier like Leeds has over 4000 skus. How many of those are deadbeat dogs? How much are the winners paying for the dogs?
Because we only sell about 100 active skus at any given time and carry no domestic inventory at all we don’t have a need to offset the cost of the dogs onto the winners. When an item falls off the popularity radar we don’t do much except take it off the web site. Simple!
